Florida vaccine for children program
The Florida Vaccine for Children (VFC) program provides vaccines to children 0 through 18, who meet program eligibility, at no cost to the parent or guardian.
Magellan Complete Care requires our providers who administer vaccines to enroll in the VFC program and use the VFC supply. To enroll please send an email to FloridaVFC@FLHealth.gov.
The VFC program covers children from birth to 18 years of age. Florida Medicaid requires vaccines for Medicaid children from birth through 20 years of age. Members 19 through 20 years of age should receive their vaccinations from their PCP and will be reimbursed at the applicable Medicaid rate.
Magellan Complete Care provides coverage and reimbursement to the participating providers for immunizations covered by Medicaid, but not provided through VFC.
Providers must follow the contraindications established by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices unless:
- In making a medical judgment in accordance with accepted medical practices, such compliance is deemed medically inappropriate; or
- The particular requirement is not in compliance with Florida law, including Florida law related to religious or other exemptions.
Magellan Complete Care encourages PCPs to provide immunization information about enrollees requesting temporary cash assistance from DCF, upon request by DCF and receipt of the enrollee’s written permission. This information is necessary in order to document that the enrollee has met the immunization requirement for enrollees receiving temporary cash assistance.
Magellan Complete Care is enrolled as a data partner with Florida SHOTS (Statewide Health Online Tracking System) and submits immunization data using the process and format specified by the Agency.
If you have any questions about this requirement please call us at 800-327-8613.
